Here’s something very cool for kids in our special needs community!
A local non-profit, Surfing Madonna Oceans Project (mission: to fund local community projects that benefit ocean conservation awareness in San Diego) is funding a Summer Surf Camp for children with special needs.
Camp Dates are July 19, August 9, August 23 and September 6 at La Jolla Shores – north of Tower 33 from 9-11am.
Campers will receive a 1 hour (one-on-one) surf lesson and spend 1 hour playing sand games – under the supervision of Surf Diva.
The camp is FREE to children from the San Diego special needs community. Surfing Madonna Oceans Project is funding each of the four camps this summer. They will also provide a snack (water, fruit and crackers) as well as photos and a video for each child attending the camp.
Please note! Each camp date has limited spots available. A Parent or Legal Guardian will be required to attend with their child. Each family will receive via email a questionnaire regarding their child, a map, a “what to bring” list, and a waiver. At the beginning of the camp, volunteers and instructors will introduce themselves to all of the children and parents. Volunteers will be wearing a certain color rash guard as will the Instructors.
If you have additional questions about the summer Surf Camp or have a child with special needs who would like to attend, please contact Meg Marie via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 760-585-6631 and please let her know that you received the info from San Diego Family’s Special Needs Resource Foundation of San Diego.
